Many parents are unaware that it is possible to homeschool special needs children. Many states like New York offer services to parents of special needs children to assist them. There are also homeschool groups specifically for parents of special needs children.
Mary Fratianni is the Special Needs Coordinator for NYS LEAH and oversees a special chapter within the organization for parents homeschooling special needs children: PICC – Parents Instructing Challenged Children.
PICC LEAH is a network of parents homeschooling, or thinking about home schooling, their child with special learning needs.
